Boudd'Asie: my world... An invitation to travel
Around my creations...
From one trip to another, from South-East Asia where I was born, I've brought back a thousand treasures that form the nourishing fabric of my imagination and my work. It's a tight weave of relationships between colours, textures, smells, sounds and flavours that I release in the course of my research and my creations.
As I embroider
Embroidery sometimes means writing, interpreting, bringing out an emotion, a sensation, a memory or simply highlighting a motif... Embroidery also means twisting, stretching, breaking, weaving and tying threads... Fine, thick, beaded, twisted, of cotton, silk, wool, hemp, linen, and even symmetrical... Plain, two-coloured, bleached, multicoloured...
All these threads that connect us, bind and untie. To embroider is to weave a link with a story, to maintain the threads of oneself interwoven with those of others, with the sounds of the world without thread... Embroidery is just a window to yourself open onto the thread of the imagination.
When embroidery becomes thought...
‘Each piece of jewellery illuminates and magnifies the wearer. Jewellery is a choice....’
- Mireille Herpe Laporte
What does mosaic mean to me?
For over 25 years, mosaics have been for me the art of meeting, mixing and composing. It incorporates unusual elements, fragments of pottery, pieces of brass, bronze, ceramics, jewellery, glass and shells, which I combine symbolically or otherwise to create a harmonious unity.
Some pieces are made from recycled materials or collected during my wanderings. Mirrors, bistro tables, turntables, shelves, consoles and other pieces are unique, transformed and enhanced by their mosaic adornment.
